6 Months

... 2 weeks late ...

My Blakey-boo,
I am SO behind. I'm sorry.
The good news is that you are still 6 months old, the bad news ...
you are now 6 1/2 months old.
I'm trying ...

Happy 6 month birthday anyways.

This past month you've mastered rolling ... and rolling ... and rolling. There is no way you'll stay on your back anymore, you want to see the world with your head held high. And now, you're starting to sit on your rump, sort of. You can sit like a tripod until you see something that peaks your interest and lift your hands that support you ... and then, you are down. Usually I catch you but on occasion, you fall. It might be a good idea if you get better at sitting up on your own :)

Sophie still calls you "Baby Bake" and still loves you to bits and pieces. When she sees you, her eyes widen and she does this strange jumping thing. I think she's just so thrilled to be around you, but I don't know ... it's a little weird. You'll have to ask her about it. She calls you her best friend and you just adore her - no matter how rough she is with you. As I often say, I hope you will love each other forever.

This month, you went on your first trip - an international one at that. In fact, you turned 6 months while in Brazil. You were a good traveler but unlike your sister, you were much more curious and not as willing to just sit and look around during the flight .... but at least you didn't cry! And during the trip, you were nearly the exemplary baby-traveler, just like your usual self.

Then, when we got back to LA, you had your 6 month doctor's appointment. It's still quite remarkable that you are all boy - no sign of being petite, like your sister. You are 50th percentile in both height (26 1/2 inches) and weight (17 pounds, 8 ounces) and 90th percentile (surprise, surprise) in your head (17 1/2 inches). You smiled and gurgled and hardly made a peep during your vaccinations ... even were commended by the nurse who gave you the shots and Dr. Bui, your pediatrician.

You still have the sweetest personality - oh so patient ... still. You go with the flow and I love that about you. The only thing that really has changed is you've developed a little bit of Mommy-separation anxiety. Although I can leave you with others (which is unlike your sister at this age), it can never be for too long ... you have your limits.

It amazes me that we are 6 months along in your life ... and how much I already love you.

Forever and Always ... yours,
Mommy
