Glowing

Blake was born ... glowing.

Usually ... glowing is a good thing but when you're a newborn and Asian, or in Blake's case, at least partially Asian ... not so much.

When we were in the hospital, Blake's billirubin levels were slightly elevated indicating at least slight jaundice but not elevated enough to need to send him under the lights. And while we were sent home after our 4 day stay, we've seen his pediatrician to monitor Blake's jandice several times and have been sent to the hospital lab even more times. One of these visits to the pediatrician included Blake's first doctor's visit ... and after an initial large weight loss - from 7 pounds, 3 ounces to 6 pounds, 10 ounces ... nearly 10% of his birth weight, he is gaining and gaining and getting "big"!

Getting measured
The funny thing is that he measured 21 1/2 inches long ...
at his first appointment, he was 21 inches long. Could he have really shrunk?
Well, apparently, they measure really quickly at birth so sometimes it is a little bit
inaccurate ...

About a week after his birth ...
6 pounds, 10.6 ounces

Blake's head was significantly smaller than Sophie's
14 inches around - 50th%

At his last appointment (his 3rd in about 3 weeks), Blake weight 7 pounds 4 ounces. He's still glowing a bit so we'll have to keep an eye on that. Otherwise, he's doing great ... and healthy!
